Our Pedagogy

Learning is natural

At Nature’s Nest Preschool, we believe childhood should be filled with wonder, discovery, and connection to the natural world. Our philosophy grows directly from our mission: to empower young minds to flourish through immersive exploration. Rooted in a nature play-based approach, we embrace the outdoors as the most powerful and dynamic classroom.

Why We Teach This Way

Children Learn Best Through Play
Play is the natural language of children. It fosters imagination, problem-solving, and creativity while supporting emotional and social growth. Nature-based play adds layers of exploration and discovery that cannot be replicated indoors.

The Outdoors Builds Resilience and Confidence
Navigating uneven ground, climbing logs, and exploring seasonal changes teach children how to assess risks, adapt to challenges, and grow stronger in body and mind.

Curiosity Drives Lifelong Learning
When children follow their own questions—Why do leaves change color? Where do worms live?—they develop critical thinking skills and a love for learning that lasts a lifetime.

Nature Teaches Stewardship
Caring for plants, observing animals, and spending time in the natural world helps children build respect, empathy, and responsibility for the environment.

Holistic Development Happens Outside
From gross motor play to fine motor creativity, from emotional regulation to social collaboration, nature supports the whole child—physically, cognitively, socially, and emotionally.

Our Commitment

We are dedicated to creating environments where children are free to explore, wonder, and grow. By integrating Reggio Emilia principles, project-based learning, and the “Thousand Languages of Children,” our teachers listen, observe, and guide with care, ensuring that each child’s unique voice is honored. At Nature’s Nest, learning is joyful, meaningful, and deeply connected to the world around us.

OUR CLASSROOMS

Our campus features 9 classrooms, designed to teach and nurture every child that enters our building. Each classroom is designed with separate age groups in mind, creating a deeper experience for the children in our care. Classrooms feature multiple centers that the children can freely explore. The classroom materials are designed to withstand new explorations that take place on a daily basis.
