Our Curriculum

Play as it should be. . .

At Nature’s Nest, learning is guided by curiosity, creativity, and a deep connection to nature. Teachers observe children’s interests and design lessons that encourage exploration, problem-solving, and collaboration. Each week, our Wander Wagon library cart visits classrooms, bringing stories that inspire imagination and a love of reading. Our Wilderness Workshop extends learning into the natural world, offering nature-based lessons that grow from children’s outdoor discoveries. Throughout the year, classes work on evolving, child-driven projects that reflect their interests and creativity. These projects are proudly shared with families at our annual Art Exhibition, a celebration of growth, learning, and community.

Wander Wagon – Our mobile library cart visits classrooms weekly, sparking a love for reading and storytelling. Children enjoy exploring books that reflect nature, community, and imagination, building early literacy skills while encouraging family engagement with stories at home.

Wilderness Workshop – This program provides teachers with nature-based lessons and resources that integrate seamlessly into daily learning. Activities draw inspiration from children’s observations outdoors, from seasonal changes in the garden to discoveries on the playground. These experiences become the foundation for lesson plans that promote continued cognitive, social, and emotional development.

Project-Based Learning – Each class engages in ongoing, child-driven projects throughout the year. These projects evolve organically from student interests—whether investigating insects, exploring water cycles, or creating collaborative art inspired by the seasons. Children learn to question, problem-solve, and work together, building skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
